TTen years after the publication of his award-winning Nightmares Lettered City: Banditry and Literature in Latin America 1816-1929, Juan Pablo Dabove brings study bandit representation elite spaces into twentieth twenty-first centuries with Bandit Narratives America: From Villa to Chávez. Concretely, issue at hand is Dabove’s continuing examination “the uses character as a cultural trope literature . discursive practices that do not belong proper, but tap literature’s authority prestige” (2). Covering approximately century banditry evocation banditry, book also deals wide range texts: Villa’s Retrato autobiográfico, selection texts by Jorge Luis Borges, Arturo Uslar Pietri’s Las lanzas coloradas, Hugo Chávez’s political discourse, name few. An excellent fitting follow-up preceding book, together two volumes offer an invaluable resource on bandits outlaw violence, depictions them.
